Basic Supplies for Your Family’s Disaster Kit
Each family will have a different set of priorities, so their disaster kits will be different. The staff at American Restoration urges you to hold a family meeting to make sure you cover everything to include. To help you get started, here are some fundamental supplies that the Department of Homeland Security recommends:
- Water (1 gallon per day for each person, for a minimum of 3 days)
- Food (3-day supply)
- Prescription medications
- Personal hygiene items
- Radio with hand crank
- Extra batteries
- Backup cell phone with battery and charger
- Photocopies of important documents, including your insurance policy
Hope for the Best but Plan for the Worst!
We understand that it can be unpleasant for families to contemplate how they would fare during a disaster, but this shouldn’t prevent you from setting up a disaster kit. Once you gather up the necessary items, you should feel more confident in how you would respond during any emergency. If your home is currently in need of cleanup after a disaster, we are here for you. Contact American Restoration Water & Fire LLC today.
