American Restoration Water & Fire doesn’t just work on residential restorations, we restore damaged commercial property as well. Water damage can come from anything, and most of the time it happens when you least expect it. Our restoration specialists have put together a list of tips and things you can do to help prevent water damage to your business.
- Water Sensors: The number one thing we always tell our clients is to install water sensors. These sensors generally are connected to your alarm system, and with any sign of moisture, you will be notified the second it alerts.
- Seasonal Roof Checks: This may sound excessive, but each season brings its own set of problems for roofs, and flat roofs in particular. Leaves leftover from fall can gather in one corner during the wind that happens in spring, and a wet pile of leaves will start to cause damage underneath it. Checking your roof seasonally will save you money!
- Plumbing Inspection: Has your water bill increased? If so, a plumbing issue could be the cause. You should check every room, the walls, the fixtures on the toilets, under the sinks, and be sure to check for differences in the way rooms smell which could indicate mold or mildew. If you suspect a plumbing issue, contact your local plumber.
- General Area Inspection: Start by checking the outside of your building: windows, doors, and where the bottom of your building meets natural materials such as rocks and sand and any other areas that are exposed to all of our elements. If you see any cracks, you can reseal them with waterproof caulking.
American Restoration Water & Fire recommends that you check your building frequently. Identifying a water leak or water damage early on is best for you and your business. Here at American Restoration we also know that things happen and while you’ve taken those steps in protecting your business, things happen, and that’s why we exist!
